FOSS Coding

Kaleidos sponsors the free software fast coding competition. These are the conditions for the contest:

.- FOSS-CODING 2014 is open for participation for every attendant with an assigned seat at Euskal Encounter.

.- In order to take part in the competition, attendants have to organise themselves in teams of at least one and at most four people.

.- So as to inscribe for the competition you will have to Email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. clearly indicating the name of the team, an Email address (where every communication from organisers will be sent) and the remaining identification info from members (name and surname, nick and your place at the party).

.- Inscription for the contest is completely free.

.- Once the inscription is finished and within an hour time, applications will be studied and the competition will start at once.

.- Every inscribed team will receive a message warning about the start of the contest and what does the programme they will have to work out consist of.

.- From the moment teams receive their acceptance for the competition they will be able to check non-personal data from members of other teams in the participating teams list.

.- As this is a FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) competition, all the programmes will have to have a free license. Organisers recommend using GPL v3 (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html), but any other free license will also be accepted (a list can be checked on http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.es.html#SoftwareLicenses).

.- As this is a FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) competition, the file format and documentation used in the programme have also to be free. For example, OpenOffice.org will be used against Office, and so on.

.- Equally, it is preferable to use free tools, which might be an important point when evaluating results.
