Jugger

The master class  / competition will take place in the area between the pavilions from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m. on the Friday.

Jugger is a team sport created in Germany between 1989 and 1995.  Jugger is a team sport that combines aspects of ball games with those of combat sports, where two teams of five players seek to score as many points as possible while preventing the rival team from doing so.Jugger is played with a ball (called a skull) and weapons covered with soft materials.

Jugger is not a sport based on brute force, but rather on skills and strategy. In this regard, the regulations always limit the strong impacts and physical contact between players, except for the qwiks as explained below.

Unlike most similar games, only a player from each team (the qwik) is allowed to physically touch the skull and can only do so using their hands.A point is scored by placing the skull in the rivals’ zone, specifically on a target (known as the mal) located at each end of the playing field. The other players (the pompfen) carry weapons and use them to challenge the players of the opposing team and to protect their qwik. The winner is the team who has scored the most points.
