This year's hacking or system assault competition rules are as following:

  1. It is necessary to register to participate. You can do so from inside party extranet.
  2. In order to have a level accounted as completed, you must send an encrypted email using this key to hackit@euskal.org, with an explanation of how did you achieve to pass the level. Hackit compo administrator will reply saying if your description is accurate or not. Mails sent without encryption won't be accounted for the competition.

NOTE: If you don't know how to send an encrypted email, check the following sites (in spanish): Windows, Linux.

  3. The winner will be the person or group that has solved more levels correctly and in order before sunday at 12:00. If there are serveral people or groups that have finished the levels before that deadline, the date/time of resolution of the last level will determine the winner.
  4. It is forbidden to give clues to other competition participants; people doing so will be disqualified.
  5. All level can be completed without using brute force attacks against the server, just using intelligence. Anyone that brute forces or uses dictionary attacks agains the server will be disqualified.
  6. It will be a reason to disqualify participants any attempt to difficult other participants' work to pass the levels, Denial of Service attacks, level modification or destruction, etc. as well as physical attacks to competition server to get additional information. The objective is to complete proposed levels, not to assault the competition server (this is important, keep in mind when initiating you attacks).

In short, the competition is based on a series of levels that must be solved with intelligence and technical knowledge, and that must be sent solved (as described in #2) in order to be accounted for the competition. It is possible to participate without willing to compete just not sending any detailed description to competition organizer; in that case the participant will not able to win any prize.

  7. If you participate in the competition, you accept these rules.
